Nine, not ten

Yes, this has bugged me too. Why does the snooze button of your alarm clock give you a 9 minute reprieve from the dangers of the waking world? Why not 10? Or even better, 5 minutes. I used to have a travel alarm clock that had a 5 minute snooze function and that was just perfect for my wacky waking pattern. Luckily Cecil Adams has the Straight Dope on this important issue.

  1. This morning, in a half-dreamlike state, I was convinced I could set a specific snooze-time by *thinking* of a number while pressing the button.
    Needless to say, it didn't work.

Since MT-Blacklist inexplicably stopped working I had no other recourse than close comments and trackbacks to stop the spam. I've been meaning to correct this for quite a while, but life got in the way... in a good way I should add.
